CLAIRE DANES RETURNS!
Replacing Kiera Knightley In The Essex Serpent

It’s always sad when one of your favorite actresses leaves a project, but it’s always really exciting when another one comes on board. That’s exactly what happened when the gorgeous Claire Danes replaced the always sexy Kiera Knightley in the forthcoming AppleTV+ series The Essex Serpent.
Filming just started for the series, and Danes was announced as a replacement at the same time. Knightley signed on for the project last summer, but had to drop out because of childcare concerns during the pandemic. Wow, that is all too #relatable.

As for the plot, it follows a woman in Victorian London who has just gotten out of an abusive relationship. We embark on her journey of freedom as she searches for the mythical creature the Essex serpent. (We’re banking on that being a euphemism.) The show is based on a 2016 novel of the same name by Sarah Perry. We recommend you read up now, PROVOKRs.
It has been less than a year since Danes left our screens as Carrie Mathison on Showtime’s Homeland. Her fierce, sexy persona on that show gave us much to be excited about. And, honestly, a year was way too long. We can’t imagine a world where Danes isn’t on our screens. The role on Homeland earned her two Emmys and two Golden Globe awards. Not to mention she was an Emmy-nominated performer in My So-Called Life back in 1995.
So, she’s been around the block a few times. Well, the series is ripe for awards season success. And with first-look images already out, we don’t think you’ll be waiting too long for this one, PROVOKRs. That would be too much of a tease.
