RECREATED AS SERIES 4 ’22
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Avatar, Interview With a Vampire+
Well, PROVOKRs, 2021 is almost coming to an end. This year has given us some stellar TV — from true crime to dramas and returning favorites. But, if you can believe it, the lineup for 2022 is looking h-o-t, HOT! Some even come from legendary IP (intellectual properties) like movies, other TV shows, or video games. Here are the best shows coming from other media:
CALL MY AGENT!
Possibly the most underrated TV show on Netflix, Call My Agent!, follows a group of people at a talent agency. The French series is getting a remake in the UK for BBC and Sundance Now. Starring David Oyelowo, Dominic West, Phoebe Dynevor, and Jessica Oyelowo (yes, David’s wife), you will binge the comedyin no time.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS
Finally, one of the greatest movie franchises of all time becomes a TV series, too. The Lord of the Rings takes place thousands of years before The Hobbit and LOTR with new and old faces. It boasts an even larger budget than HBO’s Game of Thrones, which is quite the accomplishment.
HOUSE OF THE DRAGON
Speaking of Game of Thrones, its long-anticipated sequel may have a 2022 release. House of the Dragon follows House Targaryen 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones. All hail the Mad King!
THE LAST OF US
The popular video game series The Last of Us is getting the TV treatment from HBO. Bella Ramsey, who played Lyanna Mormont in GoT, will take on the lead role of Ellie.
AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER
The last live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender did not go over well. Luckily, it’s back to an episodic format with the 2022 live-action remake. Daniel Dae Kim will portray Fire Lord Ozai.
PEACEMAKER
The Suicide Squad was a hit in 2021, which has prompted HBO to create a series around John Cena’s Peacemaker character.
OBI-WAN KENOBI
Ewan McGregor will reprise one of his most iconic characters on Disney+: Obi-Wan Kenobi. Also returning for the eponymous series is Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. Kumail Nanjiani, Benny Safdie, Joel Edgerton, and O’Shea Jackson Jr. will star too.
WILLOW
Based on the 1988 George Lucas film of the same name, it follows a “dwarf farmer” who does magic. Harry Potter’s Warwick Davis is set to lead.
INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE
Not much is known about the series adaptation of Interview With The Vampire. We do know who will play Lestat: Sam Reid. He has big shoes to fill.
THE SHINING GIRLS
Based on the novel of the same name from South African author Lauren Beukes, The Shining Girls follows a time-traveling drifter who must kill the shining girls. Yes, we’re talking about the creepy twins in The Shining. Elisabeth Moss is set to star.
GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
And, finally, the one you’ve all been waiting for. Girl With A Dragon Tattoo will debut on Amazon with a new story not told in the books or the movie starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig.
