Brit Marling's Mind Bender
Prairie Johnson is found after being missing for seven years, but can now miraculously see — despite being blind when she disappeared. That’s just the beginning of the engrossing twists and turns you can expect when turning on The OA, an off-beat, awesomely intense thriller from multi-hyphenate artists Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij, Sundance darlings who have thankfully added incredibly binge-able TV to their portfolio.
Marling, starring as Prairie, recruits a group of outsiders to investigate what Prairie really experienced while missing…and save those she was forced to leave behind.
The casting is phenomenal on so many levels — Zendaya, Kingsley Ben-Adir (before he played Bob Marley and Barbie’s Ken), Riz Ahmed and Sharon Von Etten all have wonderful arcs. Jason Isaacs plays a captivating antagonist. The finale is open-ended, as the intention was for the show to have five parts, though it still wraps up leaving you wishing for more but satisfied with its closure.
