SPOOKS ACROSS THE WORLD

Netflix’s Hindu Horror Series Typewriter

Typewriters have an interesting history in the horror genre. Their now-foreign sounds echoed through the halls of The Stanley Hotel in The Shining as Jack Nicholson’s character wrote “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” over and over again. Netflix is looking to add to the device’s canon with its Indian series aptly named Typewriter.

The series follows three child ghost hunters who want to explore a haunted villa in Goa, where the series was shot on location. Before they can really dive into their mission, a family moves in and disrupts their plan. But right when this happens, the mysteries of the haunted house resurface. That causes a lot of unexpected things to happen, including deaths.

Netflix has created several successful horror shows in recent years. The most notable is Haunting of Hill House, which has a similar premise to Typewriter. Haunting of Hill House debuted in October and amassed a huge following because of its gripping and terrifying plot. Netflix’s track record in this department is reason enough to check the Typewriter out.

All five episodes of the Hindu-language series will premiere on July 19.
