CHARLI XCX: WONDER WOMAN
The Brash, Sexy Artist's Album, Videos + Tour
Charli XCX has been a star-in-the-making for years now, and it seems like the rest of the world is finally catching on. The pop singer has been one of the most notable names in hyperpop, a new genre of pop characterized by its out-of-this-world sound.
The singer recently announced her upcoming fifth album, Crash, and is building up buzz with her singles. “Good Ones,” a return to the more mainstream pop sound she perfected earlier in her career, was a huge hit with fans. The music video has 6.8 million views – and counting.
Charli’s newest single is another fan-favorite. The star collaborated again with French singer-songwriter Christine and the Queens and fellow hyperpop star Caroline Polachek for “New Shapes.”
The song explores a complicated relationship, with the artists singing, “We could fall in love in new shapes // and when the morning comes // I’m sorry I stayed.” The song also features the 80s-style pop production that Charli uses on previous single, “Good Ones.”
The larger-than-life production matches the artist herself, who is always turning heads and raising eyebrows with outlandish social media posts and wild music videos.
The release of the single was also accompanied by a music video that showed the singers performing the track on a fictional late night show.
The upcoming album is a big one for the British singer. She announced in a statement about the album’s release that it’s “the fifth and final album in my record deal.” This could mean big things for the artist: production-style changes, better promotion, or collabs with new artists. The album’s release will also coincide with a 37-date tour across North America and Europe.
Charli’s new album is set to be released March 18, 2022. We also added our favorite bondage video of Christine and Charli XCX!
