EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE
Michelle Yeo's Multiverse Quest
A24 was able to stay busy in 2021 with the releases of films such as Red Rocket, The Tragedy of Macbeth, and The Green Knight. The studio is known for producing and distributing films that are bold and don’t exactly fit what mainstream audiences seem to want to see in a movie. One of their next films which perfectly fits this description is Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Releasing on March 25, Everything Everywhere All at Once is a sci-fi adventure that follows the story of a Chinese immigrant named Evelyn Wang, played by Michelle Yeo, who must embark on a quest across different universes encountering alternate versions of herself to save the world. She’s forced to take on this quest despite just wanting to do her taxes. Jamie Lee Curtis will appear in the film in an antagonistic hilarious role.
The film toys with the idea of a multiverse something moviegoers and Marvel fans have become obsessed with in the past year thanks to Loki and the recently released Spider-Man No Way Home. With Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness releasing in 5 months, it will be interesting to see how an experimental film like this handles the concept of the multiverse with the backing of a well-known IP such as Marvel.
Everything Everywhere All At Once will premiere at SXSW on March 11 before opening in theaters nationwide on March 25.
