Look, we’re all trying to maintain a reasonable work-life balance. But, if given the opportunity, would you split your memories in half to keep it that way? Ben Stiller’s new series, Severance, poses that very question.
The AppleTV+ series tracks people who visit Lumon Industries, a company that splits your brain to compartmentalize your memories. So essentially, any memories you make at home you won’t remember at work and vice versa. Consider it a Black Mirror meets Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind crossover.
The trailer — watch it below — hints that things may not go as planned for the adults played by Adam Scott, Christopher Walken, John Turturro, Britt Lower, and Zach Cherry. Loves will be forgotten, and life will be dull. But it might just show how much work guides our life and infiltrates our conversations. Patricia Arquette is at the helm of the Severance operation. Her domineering persona is perfect for the role, and we can’t wait to see her.
Ben Stiller’s track record should indicate that Severance will be good. The actor turned producer-director was also the man behind the camera for the Emmy-winning series Escape at Dannemora. Stiller directed the based on true events series, and he will do the same for Severance. That means he reunited with Arquette to make this series. We loved the duo the first time, so we will surely love them again.
Who knows, maybe Severance will blow everyone away and land Stiller more Emmy recognition when it launches globally on February 18. Then, you’ll have to return every week to watch new episodes of it, PROVOKRs. You don’t want to miss a single minute.
