KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON
By Martin Scorsese With Leo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone+
Martin Scorsese is one of the most legendary directors Hollywood has ever known. He’s directed classic films such as Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, and Casino. His most recent film is the Irishman but he will be making his return to the big screen with his upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
The film is based on a book titled “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,” which covers the real-life murders of Native Americans who were murdered for their oil rights in the early 1920s. Leonardo Dicaprio will be playing the role of Ernest Burkhart who is the nephew of William Hale, played by Robert De Niro. Hale was tried and convicted for ordering the murders of several people for their oil rights. Dicaprio was originally set to play Tom White, an FBI agent while Jesse Plemons would play Ernest Burkhart.
He felt that Ernest was a better role for him to switch with Plemons. To prepare for the film, Scorsese actually visited the Osage Nation and met with their chief to ask for assistance with production. Thanks to the pandemic, filming was delayed indefinitely in 2020 but managed to start and finish before the end of 2021.
Apple TV+ will host the film when it eventually comes to theaters. This is due to Apple funding the film and co-distributing it alongside Paramount Pictures. The release date has not been given for the film but with the talent involved, it will surely be a film worth watching.
